Carl J. Rossi, Jr., M.D.

Dr. Rossi is  Chief, Genito-Urinary and Lymphoma Radiation Oncology Services, in the Department of Radiation Medicine, and is Facility Director, Loma Linda University Radiation Medicine – Ridgecrest, Ridgecrest, California. He is Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology, Department of Radiation Medicine, Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC), Loma Linda, California. He is also a Lieutenant Commander, Medical Corps, United States Navy Reserve. 

Dr. Rossi completed his undergraduate education at Claremont McKenna College, California, California, where he majored in biology.  He received his M.D. degree from Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University, Maywood, Illinois, and completed his postgraduate intern and residency training in radiation oncology at LLUMC. He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), the American Board of Radiology, the California Radiology Society, and the Inland Empire Radiology Society.

Dr. Rossi  is a leader in a variety of investigations of proton radiation therapy, with a special focus on prostate cancer. He has developed protocols, conducted studies, and written peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on proton treatment of this disease. Among the studies he leads are dose-escalation protocols and combined-modality protocols to optimize proton treatment of all stages of prostate cancer, including locally advanced disease.
