David A. Bush, M.D.

Dr. Bush is Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and director of residency training for the Department of Radiation Medicine, Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda, California. He serves Loma Linda University Medical Center as a member of its General Tumor Board and its Thoracic Tumor Board. 

Dr. Bush completed his undergraduate education at Westmont College, Santa Barbara, California, where he majored in physics and biology. He received his M.D. degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed his postgraduate intern and residency training in radiation oncology there. He is the recipient of several honors, among them a McPherson Society Research Scholarship and membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He is also a past recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award from the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology.

Among Dr. Bush’s active professional and institutional affiliations are membership in the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO); the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), for which he is an Institutional Principal Investigator for Loma Linda University Medical Center; and the Gilbert H. Fletcher Society. Among his research activities, he is study chairman for investigations of proton radiation therapy for early stage, medically inoperable lung cancer, locally advanced lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and proton radiation treatment of breast cancer.

He has authored or co-authored several peer-reviewed publications in radiation therapy. Among these are articles on proton radiation treatment of medically inoperable cancers of the lung, acoustic neuromas, cancer of the prostate, and hepatocellular carcinomas. He is actively involved in clinical investigations of further uses of proton radiation therapy, notably for patients with breast cancer.
